Pastor Greene was born in Brooklyn New York and raised in Harlem. He is a fourth generation life-long member of the Church of God in Christ. His childhood was spent as a member of the First Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late great Bishop Frank Clemmons, father of the renowned Bishop Ithiel Clemmons, in Brooklyn New York. His family relocated to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1968, where Pastor Greene attended high school. There he attended and served at the historic First Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of his uncle, the late Bishop Gordon E. Vaughn. Pastor Greene received the call to ministry in 1976 and preached his first sermon on January 9, 1977, he was later ordained in August 1978.
Pastor Greene faithfully served the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Western Pennsylvania under the leadership of Bishop Gordon E. Vaughn and Bishop James Foster. During his 38 year ministry he reestablished and rebuilt the Powerhouse Church of God in Christ, Pittsburgh Pa., a church first established by his late grandfather Elder Thomas Stanback. He established the New Beginnings Church of God in Christ and reestablished and rebuilt the historic Zion Church of God in Christ. He has served as a district Y.P.W.W. president, secretary of the ordination board, State Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Ministers and Missionaries Alliance and Secretary to the Board of Administrative Assistants. He currently serves on the National Screening Committee for the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop David Screvins.
Pastor Greene hosted a radio talk show, called Community Perspectives and has made over 50 television appearances including Larry King Live. In 2012 the City of Pittsburgh recognized him as one of the “50 Men of Excellence,” for his political, social and spiritual efforts to impact the Pittsburgh Community.
Pastor Greene is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Administration of Justice. He received his Masters of Arts Degree from the California University of Pennsylvania in the Social Sciences. He is the former Chief Probation Officer for La Paz County, now retired.
Pastor Greene has two daughters Veronica, age 26, who is in the military and resides in Birmingham Alabama and Kezia age 23 who works for the La Paz County Sheriffs Department.
